On Saturday many of the international students went to Alton Towers, which is UK’s biggest theme park. It was a 2 hour drive and we had to be at college at pretty early.
Also, this is a very strange picture, but the they had cool doors in the toilets. Tardis Door!
Alton towers is huge, and I think we only went on about 4 or 5 rides. Mainly because some lines were quite long and the park was so big, and partly because we spent a lot of time trying to win minions. Only one person succeeded with that. Anyways, the rides we went on were all super fun, and I’ll throw in some pictures in no particular order.
Emilie and Ane.
We didn’t go in here because we were short on time, but it looked so cute.
It was the same with the Ice age ride! We didn’t get to go, but it looked cool! (Cool because its ICE, get it? Hilarious.)
I’m not a person for scary stuff and the ride Hex (The legend of the towers) looked quite terrifying, but I went on it anyways. I deserve an award for bravery. They managed to build a lot of suspension before you entered the actual ride, with darkness, music and sound effects. We were shown this video about the local legend of the chained oak, which was about the Earl of Shrewsbury being cursed by an old beggar for not giving her a coin. Basically, every time a branch fell of the oak three a person in his family would die. The earl starts experimenting after the first branch falls and chains up the rest, and the ride told us about that. To be honest, the video was pretty bad and it wasn’t scary at all. We had to walk through a few rooms first, before coming into the room with the branch. This was a ride and it was really cool. It wasn’t super exciting, but at some points you didn’t know what was up and what was down.
Next, we went to the smiler. Everyone has been talking about how great it is, so me and my friends knew we couldn’t miss out on that, despite the incredibly long line. We ended up waiting for almost one and a half hour, but luckily we had our entertainments in the line. It still was a long time to wait and we were starting to be in a hurry as the day was coming to an end, but waiting for so long was worth it. The smiler was the best ride I’ve ever been on and it was just so much fun!
All the international students that went!
Overall it was a really fun day, and I think everyone had a good time. Despite not being able to enjoy many rides, the ones we went on made up for it.
